Scholarships for 2017 intake of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Course at SIP

Scholarships for 2017 Intake of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Course at Sydney
 Institute for Psychoanalysis

The Sydney Institute for Psychoanalysis will offer a Scholarship program to pay course fees for the next PPC intake in early 2017.

The Scholarships aim to promote excellence and diversity in the clinical application of psychodynamic thinking, and to facilitate access to the Course for applicants without financial support from their employer or other sources.

The Course syllabus is based on Alessandra Lemma’s introductory book about psychodynamic psychotherapy. This text provides a good foundation for clinical discussions to develop observation and listening skills that are helpful for all mental health professionals, as well as professionals engaged in organisational change and mediation.

The Course suits newcomers to psychodynamic thinking as well as more experienced clinicians, and PPC is suitable as a stand alone professional development module, as a foundation for the SIP Small Group Seminar program, or to explore an interest in more intensive training programs at SIP and other organisations.

The Sydney Institute for Psychoanalysis welcomes Scholarship applications from registrars, students and clinicians working with disadvantaged patients in ‘not-for-profit’ organisations or public mental health services where psychodynamic thinking could be applied.

Scholarship applications should be made on the PPC@SIP Application Form, available at this web address: www.sydneypsychoanalysis.asn.au/downloads-2/ppcsip.html

Applications will be assessed on their merits and suitable applicants will be offered an interview with a panel who will consider the applicant’s written personal statement, professional interests and aspirations, and capacity to benefit from the Course. Up to four Scholarships may be awarded. The Ron Brookes Scholarship is awarded to a clinician working with children and adolescents, and one scholarship will be awarded to a student clinician. In addition to the SIP Scholarships, one or more Bursaries may be available from the Australian Psychoanalytic Foundation for suitable applicants. Application for Scholarships and Bursaries does not jeopardise subsequent application as a fee paying Course participant when a Scholarship has not been awarded. Learn more about the Scholarship program at the PPC@SIP Information Evening on Wednesday, August 31, 8.00 - 9.30pm, at 5 Penshurst St, Willoughby. Scholarship Applications for PPC@SIP will close on September 30, 2016. Further Course information is available in the Course Outline, at the website link above. For enquiries and RSVP to the Information Evening please contact a Committee Member: Liz Kerr, Julie Meadows, Leonie Sullivan, or Mark Howard. Please email: ppc-at-sip@iinet.net.au
